Michigan State Fire Marshall Offers New Fire Safety Program
Last year, 165 people died in fire related incidents in Michigan. 90% of these deaths occurred in homes. The State Fire MarshalÂ?s office has developed a new fire safety curriculum to address this problem. This curriculum, entitled Safe at Home, Fire Safety for Everyone, is intended to be delivered by the local fire department in the classroom. The curriculum includes lesson plans, worksheets, take-home handouts and transparencies. It is a progressive curriculum that covers basic fire safety lessons, incorporating protection, prevention and persuasion strategies. By targeting children for this educational effort, we can empower them to better protect themselves and their families from the devastation of fire and fire related injuries. For this program to be successful, it is imperative that the fire department and the schools work together. When the fire department comes to your school with this new program, please take the time to discuss it with them.

Lifetouch National School Studios
Friends. Family. These are words often associated with Lifetouch, an employee-owned photography company based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. From its humble beginnings in 1936 when it was called "National School Studios", and "picture men" traveled to one-room schoolhouses with mahogany box cameras making just $3-$6 a stop -- to the largest employee-owned photographic corporation in the world, there is one thing that has never changed: a feeling of family.
