Executive Board Meeting Minutes
January 25, 2007

Members Present
Randy Lindquist, Stacey Reehl, Susan Koster, Tonia Shoup, Chuck Schultz, Gerry Hopkins

Presidents Report

  • Need a president elect - Randy will be in this position.  A new secretary will need to be in place for next year.
  • Other officers are needed for next year as well.  Some people were discussed as possibilities for joining our board and maybe being officers.  Those people will be contacted to find out interest.
  • Unsure if the February 6th PD event at Muskegon ISD is still on or not.  Region 12 was setting this up, but we have not received any further information.

Secretary Report - No Report

Treasurers Report - No Report
Treasurer info and materials were handed over to Gerry our new treasurer

Professional Development Report

  • New & Aspiring workshop had 45 people in attendance and was well received.  A great networking opportunity.
  • Another workshop called Polarity Management was held with attendance of about 25 people.  This too was a good workshop and well received.

Board of Directors Report

  • Administrator certification was discussed.  MEMSPA will be handling this and if you were certified before, you will be grandfathered in.
  • Also heard about new administrator courses available through MiLife.  Good information, but courses look to be pretty intense.
  • MEMSPA doing ok financially, but declining membership is still a concern as well as the effects of future budget cuts to schools.

Legislative report

  • Not looking good financially.  Cuts could happen in March.  Obviously impact will be great.
  • It is important to advocate with legislators by calling or sending an email.
  • Legislative conference on Feb 15 - encourage principals to attend and talk with legislators about budget concerns.

Membership Report - No Report

Old Business
Round table meeting in November was great.  Next scheduled round table meeting is on March 1st at Baldwin Heights Elementary in Greenville.  Randy will produce a flyer for this event and email it to Region 9 & 12 members.

New Business
Secretary banquet - unsure of region 12 involvement.  Don't think we will plan an event for this year due to budget concerns as well as dwindling numbers involved.

Next meeting is October 13th
12:00 p.m. - before 1:30 round table meeting
Baldwin Heights Elementary - Greenville
