2025 Outstanding Assistant Principal
Stacey Douglas, Assistant Principal, Meridian Elementary

The Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association announced Stacey Douglas as the 2025 MEMSPA Outstanding Assistant Principal. Stacey is the Assistant Principal of Meridian Elementary in the Meridian Public Schools.
Stacey was also recognized as Michigan's National Association of Elementary School Principals Outstanding Assistant Principal, which was celebrated at the NAESP conference in Seattle, Washington.
Stacey serves as the Assistant Principal at Meridian Elementary School, where she is known for her unwavering commitment to student success, her joyful leadership style, and her ability to create systems that support both learning and well-being.
She starts each day with music, high-fives, and conversations at the door — not just checking in, but connecting. From managing PBIS, SEL, and student discipline, to supervising paraprofessionals and evaluating staff, to coordinating multiple behavior and mentorship programs — Stacey does it all.
And she does it with a spirit of positivity, innovation, and care. As a graduate of MEMSPA’s Leadership Matters Cohort 13, Stacey leads with her strengths — and they’re easy to spot: she wins people over, and she brings joy wherever she goes.
This year, she took the lead on the behavioral component of her school’s High-Reliability Schools framework — building a Professional Learning Community that aligned staff, systems, and strategies to better serve their students. In a rural, high-needs district, this kind of leadership isn’t just exceptional — it’s essential.
Whether she’s designing wraparound support systems, leading a crisis response, or dancing in the hallway to lift spirits — Stacey Douglas is a true example of what student-centered leadership looks like in action.
