Professional Bio
Erin North brings over twenty years of experience in education, including fourteen years as an elementary and middle school principal across three districts. Before moving into administration, she taught grades two through eight, developing a strong foundation in both instructional practice and school leadership.
Erin is an active member of the Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association, where she has served on both the regional and executive boards. She led as Region 8 President from 2019 to 2023 and has served as the Professional Learning Chair on the Executive Board since 2021. In recognition of her leadership, she was honored as the MEMSPA 2024 Region 8 Principal of the Year. Erin credits her participation in Leadership Matters, Leverage Leadership, and Thoughtful Leaders cohorts for sustaining her passion and longevity in the profession.
Erin earned her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in K-12 Educational Administration from Michigan State University. Her research explores how members of marginalized groups advance in educational leadership roles. She is deeply committed to supporting educational leaders in achieving their career goals and to creating meaningful professional learning experiences. Erin has presented at state and national conferences on topics including barriers in educational leadership, social-emotional wellness for staff and students, and trauma-informed practices. Erin is dedicated to serving MEMSPA and its members in gratitude for the many ways the organization has supported and enriched her professional journey.
