How does Michigan Virtual support MEMSPA?

Partner Updates,
Some of the questions I often hear from MEMSPA members are, "Isn't Michigan Virtual for online learning for high schoolers?  So how can they support my middle and elementary buildings?"  Two of the answers are fascinating and I'll make it short, because as a former MEMSPA Principal, I wish I'd known the resources from our partnership earlier in my career.
  • Professional Learning - Michigan Virtual provides professional learning online for over 100K Michigan educators each year to help your staff obtain their valuable SCECHs.  Many of our courses are low- or no-cost and all are asynchronous so your staff can learn anytime, anywhere, any topic they need.  We also have courses we've developed in partnership with MEMSPA over the years and we are able to create more, based on the needs of your staff.  We can work with you or your district to group enroll staff so you can also create thematic professional learning for them based on your team's goals.
  • New & Next - Along the lines of creating for schools, we work closely with schools to understand your current challenges and explore how we can help you overcome them either through training, ed tech support, or developing new solutions altogether!  We have a Research & Design team just for this type of support as well as the only AI Lab endorsed by MDE for supporting your staff's needs on AI guidance in schools.  Ask Wyatt Stevens from Lapeer or Dr. Carmen Maring from Gull Lake how we've worked with their districts to move that needle.
Basically, we are here as a resource for online learning, but also all things that bring together the best in people & technology.  As a close friend to MEMSPA, I get your struggles and your celebrations and want to share in both.  Feel free to contact me directly for questions, to bounce ideas, or to just extend your network of thought partners for the goals you're trying to  reach in the hard work you do each day.  And thank you for doing it!
