Building a Stronger School Culture Through Character
At Lobbestael Elementary in the L'Anse Creuse Public Schools district, The Positivity Project (P2) supported lasting improvements in school culture by embedding character and relationships into the school day. After implementation, the school experienced a 75% decrease in bus write-ups and a 50% reduction in recess and school behavior incidents.

Measurable Impact on Student Behavior
Students became more aware of how their actions affected others and increasingly took ownership of problem-solving. Conflicts were handled more thoughtfully, and students demonstrated greater self-regulation across classrooms, recess, and transportation.
A Shared Language for the School Community
A key driver of this change was the shared language P2 created around character strengths. Through brief, consistent lessons, students learned to recognize strengths such as integrity, kindness, and perseverance in themselves and others. Teachers were able to integrate lessons seamlessly into routines like morning meetings, supporting consistent implementation.
Stronger Relationships, Lasting Culture
As character conversations became part of daily practice, relationships across the school strengthened. Teachers reported improved classroom dynamics, while students felt more connected to peers and adults. By emphasizing an “Other People Mindset,” P2 helped Lobbestael cultivate a more positive, inclusive learning environment that supported both well-being and learning.
